The Los Angeles Rams selected Clemson defensive lineman Tyler Davis with the 196th pick in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft (4/27/24).
College: Davis became Clemson's first defensive player to be a four-time All-ACC selection, including three consecutive First-Team honors from 2021-23. Including offensive players and specialists, he became the fifth player in school history to be a four-time All-ACC honoree. Davis passed Christian Wilkins, Dexter Lawrence and William Perry for the most career All-ACC selections by a defensive tackle in Clemson history. As a senior in 2023, Davis broke Wilkins' record for starts by a defensive tackle and went on to set the Clemson record for career starts by a defensive player (52). He finished his collegiate career tied with Kicker Chandler Catanzaro for the fourth-most career starts in Clemson history for all positions. He started his first career game as a freshman in 2019 and became a key interior player for Clemson's defense ever since. Davis was voted as a team captain his final two seasons at Clemson. His senior season in 2023, Davis played in 13 games and was credited with 45 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks in 467 snaps played. As a junior in 2022, he was a Bednarik Award semifinalist and started 11-of-12 games played in which he appeared. Davis finished the season with 27 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, a pass breakup and a fumble recovery in 495 snaps played. He also finished second on the team with 15 pressures that season. In 2021, Davis started eight of nine games played and was credited with 27 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and a fumble recovery in 321 snaps played. He battled injury during the 2020 season, in which he recorded 17 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and a pass breakup in 196 snaps played. He started all seven games that he appeared in as a sophomore. Davis was a Second-Team All-ACC selection as a freshman in 2019 after finishing with 51 tackles, 9.0 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, two pass breakups, and a fumble recovery in 539 snaps played. He started appeared in 15 games (13 starts), which was the most by a true freshman defensive lineman in school history, and led all true freshman interior linemen in the country in sacks. He became the first true freshman defensive tackle to start a season opener for Clemson since 1974.
Personal: Davis was rated as the no.60 overall player in the nation, the seventh-best defensive tackle and prospect in the state of Florida by ESPN, and a consensus four-star prospect coming out of high school. He played his high school football at Wekiva High for Rich Bedesem and helped the team to an 11-2 record and a top 10 ranking in the state of Florida. Davis earned his degree in management and added a certificate in athletic leadership.
