Rams agree to terms on trade sending CB Tre'Davious White to Ravens

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – The Rams on Tuesday agreed to terms with the Ravens on a trade that will send cornerback Tre'Davious White to Baltimore.

Originally signed to a 1-year deal in free agency earlier this year, White started Los Angeles' first four games, collecting 12 total tackles and 2 passes defensed during that stretch before being made inactive for its last four games as a healthy scratch.

Those last four games, the Rams stuck with the same group of cornerbacks for that position's rotation, and head coach Sean McVay last week said they would continue to do so going barring unexpected events like injuries.

McVay last week said White was playing more snaps early in the season than the team anticipated because of injuries at the position. White was coming off a season-ending knee injury sustained in Week 4 of last season with the Bills.

McVay repeatedly credited White for his professionalism in handling the circumstances throughout this time.

"Here's the thing, the guy wants to be able to go compete and I can understand that. He's been a great player in this league," McVay on Oct. 28. "I can't say enough good things about just the way he's handled himself as a man, as a player, as a leader, and as a mentor. It just hasn't gone the way I think any of us would've liked up to this point."

White's opportunity to compete will now come in Baltimore.

"I do think just from the, let's call it the human side of this business, we wanted to try to come up with a win-win for us and for Tre, as it sits right now," Rams general manager Les Snead said Tuesday. "Obviously we could have kept him in case of an emergency, in terms of an insurance policy, but I do think because of our relationship with him, we want to try to come up with a win-win. And in this case, Baltimore needs needs a veteran to come in and help them get on the grass."
