Rams agree to terms on Ernest Jones IV trade with Titans

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – Longtime defensive starter Ernest Jones IV has been traded.

The Rams on Wednesday agreed to terms on a trade that will send the linebacker and a 2026 sixth-round draft pick to the Titans in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round draft pick.

In 2023, Jones broke James Laurinaitis' franchise record for total tackles in a single season with 145. His 14 tackles for loss, six QB hits and six passes defensed were also career-bests; all of this production came after being voted a team captain for the first time by his teammates. He also wore the green dot (serving as the on-field defensive signal-caller) and was a key communicator.

Jones was an integral part of the defense that helped Los Angeles win Super Bowl LVI over the Cincinnati Bengals at SoFi Stadium in February 2022, posting seven total tackles (two for loss), three QB hits and one sack in L.A.'s 23-20 victory.

He has 320 total tackles, 5.5 sacks, 12 passes defensed and three interceptions across 47 career games (33 starts) in three seasons.

The University of South Carolina product originally entered the NFL as a third-round draft pick (103rd overall) by the Rams in 2021.
