With the offseason program complete and Rams Training Camp presented by UNIFY Financial Credit Union starting up on July 23, it's time to look ahead. As part of the preparation for training camp, theRams.com will be spotlighting a handful of players new to the Rams' roster. Continuing the series is defensive back Kamren Kinchens.
How He Got Here: The Rams selected Kinchens 99th overall out of the University of Miami (Fla.) in this year's draft.
What's Next: Continuing to learn the defensive playbook. Of course, it's also possible for Kinchens to earn a role within the safety rotation or secondary, but that group retained and also added experience this offseason. Getting the playbook down and gaining a better understanding of the defense will help push for opportunities on the field.
Bet You Didn't Know: Kinchen's 89.6 coverage grade since 2022 ranked sixth among Power Five safeties, according to Pro Football Focus.
Quotable: "The deep ball range. I think you see the toughness, the range being able to play really sideline to sideline, his deep defense feel. You can see at the point of contact there's no flinch. He's got good ball production. There was a lot of appreciation from (Defensive Backs Coach/Pass Game Coordinator) Aubrey (Pleasant), from Coach (Safeties Coach) (Chris) Beak, from (Defensive Coordinator) Chris Shula. (Pro Scout) Matt Waugh did a great job. These are four players that we expect to come in and be big time factors for us and add to the overall roster." – McVay after Day 2 of the NFL Draft (April 26), on what Kinchens brings to the team
