Newcomer update: Boston Scott

With the offseason program complete and Rams Training Camp presented by UNIFY Financial Credit Union starting up on July 23, it's time to look ahead. As part of the preparation for training camp, theRams.com will be spotlighting a handful of players new to the Rams' roster. Continuing the series is running back Boston Scott.

How He Got Here: After becoming an unrestricted free agent, Scott signed a 1-year deal with the Rams on May 1.

What's Next: Continuing to learn the offense and get reps at punt returner and kickoff returner. Scott told theRams.com during OTAs he's willing to do whatever is asked of him. His role in the running back rotation still to be determined, but he's been getting reps as one of the returners for both the punt and kickoff return teams. The Rams will find a way to use him in one or both phases, and training camp will provide additional clarity on how.

Bet You Didn't Know: Of Scott's 16 career rushing touchdowns, 9 were scored against the New York Giants.

Quotable: "I can remember last year, I wasn't getting any opportunities, so I kind of had some time to like sit back and really watch teams. The Rams kind of stood out as far as the physicality. I just remembered them being very physical, they stayed in it the whole time, they did not lay down. So that type of mindset, that type of mentality, I think it's just so important as you go throughout a long season." – Scott on what he saw from the Rams last season
