The Los Angeles Rams selected Wake Forest defensive lineman Kobie Turner 89th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.
College: As a redshirt senior at Wake Forrest in 2022, Turner finished the season with 38 tackles (21 solo), 10 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and three passes defensed. He registered a quarterback hurry in eight games and a tackle for loss in nine. He tallied at least one tackle in every game and multiple stops in 10-of-13 contests. He was named Second-Team All-ACC by the Associated Press and ThirdTeam All-ACC by the league's media and coaches. His 92.2 Pro Football Focus rating was the second-highest rating by a Power-5 defensive player. Turner transferred to Wake Forrest after playing five seasons at Richmond, where he was a three-time All-Colonial Athletic Association selection, earned two-straight First-Team AllCAA honors, and was named CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Year. He played in 37 career games at Richmond, including 27 consecutive starts, and tallied 158 tackles (65 solo), 35 tackles for loss, 15.0 sacks, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. During the 2021 season, Turner appeared in 11 games and notched 54 tackles (20 solo), 10.5 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. In a shortened 2020 campaign, he played in four games and tallied 19 tackles (10 solo), six tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and one forced fumble. Turner played in 12 contests during his sophomore campaign in 2019 and finished the season with 71 tackles (30 solo), 14.5 tackles for loss, 7.0 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick. He saw action in 11 games in 2018 and notched 14 tackles (five solo), 2.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.
Personal: Turner was a two-year starter at Centreville High School, where he earned First-Team All-District honors for his play on the offensive and defensive line. He also was voted SecondTeam for USA Today's All-Virginia OL, Second-Team All-State 6A OL/DL, and was part of a team that went undefeated and won the 2013 state title. Turner is also an accomplished musician and vocalist.
