Game Recap: Rams fall to Dolphins 23-15 on Monday Night Football

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – The Rams fell to the Dolphins 23-15 on Monday Night Football at SoFi Stadium.

Kicker Joshua Karty's five made field goals of 34, 55, 53, 22 and 31 yards accounted for Los Angeles' (4-5) only points of the contest against Miami (3-6).

Here is the complete game recap, presented by Verizon:

The Dolphins needed just five plays on the opening drive to reach the endzone, taking an early 7-0 lead on an 18-yard touchdown run by wide receiver Malik Washington.

Los Angeles went 3-and-out on its first two offensive series; on its third, Stafford's third-down pass was tipped and intercepted by Miami linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. L.A. managed to hold Miami to a 50-yard field goal, but it extended the Dolphins' lead to 10-0 early in the second quarter.

Linebacker Christian Rozeboom's interception with 10:18 left in the second quarter nearly set the Rams up with perfect field position, returning the pick to the Dolphins' 14. However, an illegal blindside block penalty, enforced at the Dolphins' 28, moved the ball back to the 43. On the very next play, the Rams gave the ball right back to the Dolphins on a fumble by running back Kyren Williams.

Four plays after Williams' fumble, Verse forced and recovered one himself while sacking Tagovailoa on third down, giving L.A. the ball at Miami's 36. The Rams moved the ball, but were ultimately forced to settle for a 34-yard field goal by Karty to cut the Dolphins' lead to 10-3 with 5:46 left in the first quarter.

Karty's 55-yard field goal – a career-long – cut the Rams' deficit to four just before halftime.

The Rams' second-half opening drive was derailed by a high snap, and later a false start penalty that negated what would've been successful 52-yard field goal attempt by Karty. His 57-yarder following the penalty was no good, missing wide right, keeping the score 10-6 Dolphins midway through the third quarter.

Miami capitalized on the missed field goal with a 1-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to wide receiver Tyreek Hill at the end of the ensuing series to extend its lead to 17-6 with 5:32 left in the third quarter.

A 53-yard field goal by Karty made it a one-possession game early in the fourth quarter.

On the ensuing possession, an unnecessary roughness penalty against the Rams on first down moved the Dolphins from their own 30 to their own 45. Although the Rams managed to hold the Dolphins to a 37-yard field goal attempt at the end of the drive, Miami's lead still stood 20-9 with 9:07 left in the fourth quarter.

While the Rams reached the Dolphins' 4-yard line on the ensuing drive, they were forced to settle for a 22-yard field goal by Karty to cut their deficit to eight with 6:34 to play.

Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders drilled a 50-yard field goal to extend the Dolphins lead to 23-12 with 2:38 remaining. The Rams reached the redzone on the following drive, but again were forced to settle for a field goal, this time from 31 yards out by Karty.

Karty's fifth field goal made it 23-15 with 38 seconds remaining, but the ensuing onside kick was unsuccessful. And with Los Angeles out of timeouts, Miami was able to run out the remaining clock to secure the victory.
