To celebrate the start of the NFL season, the Los Angeles Rams visited Monterrey, Mexico for kickoff weekend and hosted a variety of events to bring Rams fans together and engage the community. Rams Legend Torry Holt, mascot Rampage, and Rams Cheerleaders made the trip to take in the Rams season-opener with the fans in Monterrey.
The three-day trip included a visit to a local school, a tour of the Ball Corporation's plant, youth football and cheerleader clinics, and a watch party for the Week One match-up between the Rams and Detroit Lions.
"It has been amazing to see first-hand the NFL's international growth through this trip to Mexico," said Holt. "The passion our fans here have for American football is inspiring and I have loved learning more about the culture and history in Monterrey. It has been special meeting with so many Rams fans and helping instill a love of the game that I love so much into the next generation."
On Friday, September 6, Holt, Rampage and Rams Cheerleaders distributed "Viaja con Rampage," the Spanish-translated version of their children's book, "Ride with Rampage" to students at Colegio Ingles Primary School, as well as flag football kits to coaches from 16 other Monterrey schools.
The Rams and Holt then paid a visit to Ball Corporation's beverage packaging plant in Monterrey. The group toured the plant and then hosted a celebration for the employees in partnership with Ball. In celebration of the visit, the plant staff had a chance to win prizes including a trip to Los Angeles and enjoyed food and photo opportunities with Holt, Rampage, and Rams Cheerleaders. The Rams and Ball ended the day by teaming up to pack backpacks donated by Ball employees for students at Ciudad de los Niños de Monterrey, A.B.P.
"It was a true pleasure to host the Rams organization at Ball Corporation's Monterrey plant and connect over community, sustainability, and football," said Mike Kelley, Director, Strategic Partnerships at Ball Corporation. "The Rams' commitment to empowering communities by giving back is core to Ball's mission, and what makes this partnership so special – five seasons and counting."
