Five players to watch: Rams vs. Cowboys, 2024 Preseason Week 1

The Rams' 2024 preseason schedule kicks off hosting the Cowboys at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. on Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 1:30 p.m. pacific time on ABC7 (national simulcast on NFL Network).

Here are five players fans should be watching during the contest:

Rams head coach Sean McVay said Thursday he doesn't plan to play Jimmy Garoppolo in the preseason unless Garoppolo requests to, in the scenario Garappolo feels it's important to get live reps given his two-week suspension to start the regular season. McVay also said it's important for Bennett to get "a bunch of work," which makes sense with Bennett not having any live game reps since last year's preseason games.

Kinchens has been one of the standouts in training camp and joint practices over the last week, displaying range, physicality and concept recognition in those settings.

Allen was moving well throughout OTAs and minicamp this spring, and that confidence carried over into training camp and joint practices this summer.

Not only is Karty a player to watch because of the kicker competition, but also the new kickoff format. Will he try different types of kicks in that phase of special teams, or will it be basic to save those surprises for the regular season?

McClendon went up against four of the NFL's best pass rushers over the last week; Sunday will be an opportunity for him to continue to get live reps and build on what he learned from those experiences.
