First Look: Rams close out 2024 regular season road schedule taking on Jets in Week 16

The Rams wrap up the away portion of their 2024 regular season schedule with by heading east to take on the New York Jets. Kickoff on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. is scheduled for 10 a.m. pacific time on CBS.

In advance of the contest, here is your First Look at Rams-Jets, presented by Uber Eats:

Notable Jets additions

  • Acquired WR Davante Adams in a trade with the Raiders on Oct. 15: The All-Pro receiver reunited with the quarterback he enjoyed the most productive years of his career with, and is coming off his best performance as a Jet with 9 catches for 198 yards and 2 touchdowns.
  • Signed K Anders Carlson to the active roster on Nov. 19: New York appears to have found its solution to the kicking position in Carlson, who became the fourth kicker used by the Jets this season. Greg Zuerlein was placed on IR on Oct. 30, and the Jets had also experimented with Riley Patterson and Spencer Shrader for one game each. Carlson has made 7 of 8 field goal attempts and 9 of 10 extra point attempts in four games.

Top performers in Week 15

QB Aaron Rodgers completed 16 of 30 pass attempts for 289 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Jets' 32-25 road win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Rodgers rushed for a team-high 45 yards, but it was running backs Breece Hall (30 yards on 9 carries, 1 touchdown) and Isaiah Davis (24 yards on 5 carries) who paced New York's backfield.

Adams' 9 catches for 198 yards and 2 touchdowns were all team-highs.

Cornerbacks Sauce Gardner and Jalen Mills each recorded an interception for the Jets' defense.

On special teams, Carlson made 1 of 2 field goal attempts and all 3 of his extra point attempts, while P Thomas Morstead averaged 41.7 yards per punt across 3 punts.

Early storylines to watch, and what they mean for the Rams

As Los Angeles continues playing meaningful football on December, its last road game of the regular season will feature a Jets team that hasn't given up on its season, despite being out of playoff contention.

New York improved to 4-10 last week thanks in large part to a vintage Rodgers-Adams performance. Even with the speculation about their future with the Jets beyond this season, Sunday showed they're committed to ending the year strong.

That will only make Sunday that much more challenging for the Rams coming off of a game that put themselves in position to control their playoff fate. As history – and last week – has shown, when that tandem is firing on all cylinders, it can make life difficult for opposing secondaries.

To that end, L.A. is helped by having an experienced quarterback-wide receiver combo of their own in Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp. Both teams also have ascending young receivers in Puka Nacua and Garrett Wilson.

For fans of offense and strong quarterback play, exciting wide receiver duos and games with postseason stakes, it doesn't get much better than Sunday.
