Countdown to Camp is a series breaking down the Rams roster by position group heading into the team's first open training camp practice. The sixth installment examines the wide receivers.
In 2023, the Rams' four leading receivers were Puka Nacua, Cooper Kupp, Demarcus Robinson and Tutu Atwell.
In 2024, that core four returns.
That group helped contribute to the NFL's No. 10 passing offense, led by Nacua's NFL-rookie-record 1,486 yards with a healthy Kupp (post-soft tissue injury return) and emerging Robinson also factoring into that success. Atwell remained a viable big-play threat – see 38-yard touchdown catch against Lions in wild card round – as well.
Just as important as that continuity: A healthy Kupp going into training camp.
Kupp has said before how much of a difference it makes being able to participate in OTAs, for example, by spending that time on football-specific activity instead of just injury rehab. After dealing the soft-tissue issue he dealt with last year – which was sustained in the team's third training camp practice – being able to do the same during training camp will be huge for him.
Robinson will enter this year's training camp more comfortable after being in the Rams' system for a year. When he first joined the team, Los Angeles agreed to terms with him on June 12 – a little over six weeks before training camp was scheduled to begin. He made some eye-popping plays in camp last year, and that later came to life in the second half of the season. He should benefit from the added familiarity and not having to spend as much time learning L.A.'s offense.
As for Nacua, he said this spring he hasn't reached the standard set he aspires to reach – the one he said which was set by Kupp – so he will come into camp plenty motivated coming off his historic rookie campaign.
