During his collegiate career, Jacob Hummel received First-Team Academic All-Big 12 (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021). Hummel finished his true freshman season as the Academic All- Big 12 Rookie Team (2017). In his second season, he played in all 13 games with a total of 31 tackles, 3.5 TFLs, and 1.0 sack (2018). Hummel played in all 13 games as a key reserve and returned an interception 48-yards (2019). During the 2020 season, Hummel finished 16th in the Big 12 in tackles per game. Hummel received Honorable Mention All-Big 12 in his last two seasons (2020, 2021). He finished his collegiate career starting all 13 games and led his team with a total of 80 tackles (39 solo). He totaled 228 tackles, three interceptions, nine pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery as a Cyclone.
Hummel was born January 4, 1999 in Des Moines, Iowa. He is the son of Perry Hummel and Sharon Iversion. He was a three-star recruit by Rivals, 247Sports, Scout and ESPN during his time at Dowling Catholic High School. In the state of Iowa, he was ranked overall top 10 by Rivals and ESPN. As a senior, he was named to the Des Moines Register's Elite all-state team. He was Academic All-State and Presidential Honor Roll
all four seasons in high school. He double majored in Business Analytics and Finance.
