WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – Rams head coach Sean McVay on Friday said "fortunately, there's nothing structurally (wrong)" with Puka Nacua's knee after the wide receiver injured it during Thursday's practice.
McVay said Nacua won't practice Friday and will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Seahawks in Seattle (1:25 p.m. PT, FOX), but wouldn't rule out the possibility of him playing.
"I wouldn't bet against this guy," McVay said. "My expectation is him doing everything in his power to be ready to roll, and that's the mindset that we have."
McVay said Nacua "ended up going to the ground" during Thursday's practice, but did not have to get fluid removed from his knee. The knee Nacua hurt on Thursday was the same knee he injured in a preseason joint practice with the Chargers and also against the Lions in Week 1.
"I think the good thing is, what the hope and expectation is, is that sometimes when you do that, coming off an injury, it kind of scares you as much as anything, right, where maybe you broke up scar tissue," McVay said. "When you look at the picture, it was really encouraging structurally. But then there can sometimes be a little bit of fluid, and then that can limit some of your mobility. But getting that out of there, talking with (Rams vice president of sports medicine and performance) Reggie (Scott), about what his expectation is, knowing how Puka will attack the next couple of days, not something I'm concerned about, other than we want to keep our guy off the ground."
McVay also said he does not expect Nacua's knee injury to be something the receiver has to manage for the rest of the season.
"It's not like it's an arthritic knee or anything like that," McVay said. "It's just been kind of unfortunate where, you've had the two instances that we've talked about, and then yesterday. And what our hope is, is that it was a more of a scare than really anything."
