Rams 2025 NFL Draft position preview: Outside linebacker

As part of theRams.com's preview coverage leading into this year's draft, we'll be taking a look at each position on the team's roster.

We continue with the outside linebacker position.

It hasn't been widely identified by analysts as a position of need for the Rams, but here's why they may consider targeting it in the draft

Outside linebacker has a range of depth and experience, between reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Jared Verse, third-year pro Byron Young, third-year pro Nick Hampton, third-year pro Keir Thomas and second-year pro Brennan Jackson.

However, the position also saw Michael Hoecht sign with the Bills in free agency – a former undrafted free agent who emerged as a key contributor to last season's pass rush, especially the group used in known passing situations. That departure could warrant giving this position consideration in the draft.

Projected names

One name that has surfaced in mock drafts is South Carolina's Kyle Kennard, via ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. and Field Yates' three-round projections. Kiper and Yates have Kennard going to the Rams in the third round at No. 101 overall.

The Athletic's Dane Brugler predicted Alabama's Que Robinson going to the Rams 202nd overall in the sixth round in his full seven-round mock.

Los Angeles' 2025 Draft Picks:

  • Round 1: No. 26 overall
  • Round 3: No. 90 overall
  • Round 3: No. 101 overall (special compensatory)
  • Round 4: No. 127 overall
