NFL announces 2025 salary cap will be $279.2 million, a new record high

The 2025 NFL salary cap is set.

The league on Thursday announced this year's salary cap will be $279.2 million per team. This fell close to the middle of the projected range, which was previously reported to be between $277.5 million and $281.5 million.

Overall, it marks a record-high and an increase of $23.8 million from the previous year – the 2024 salary cap was $255.4 million, which at the time was also a record-high.

OverTheCap.com, a site that tracks each team's approximate cap space, estimates the Rams to have a little over $44 million in 2025 cap space, though that's based on a base salary cap figure that has yet to be updated to what the NFL announced.

Free agency and the 2025 NFL New League Year begins at 1 p.m. pacific time on March 12, preceded by the negotiating period that begins Monday, March 10 at 9 a.m. pacific time. The Rams have 19 pending free agents.
