First Look: Week 12 rematch awaits Rams in Philadelphia with Divisional Round playoff road game against Eagles

The Rams have a quick turnaround to the next stage of the playoffs. Fresh of their Monday night Wild Card win over the Vikings in Arizona, they're now bound for Philadelphia for a Divisional Round game against the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. Kickoff this Sunday from Philadelphia is scheduled for noon pacific time (NBC/Peacock).

Ahead of the contest, here is your First Look at Rams-Eagles, presented by Toyota:

Notable Eagles additions

  • Signed RB Saquon Barkley to a 3-year deal on March 13, 2024: Widely regarded as the favorite to win Offensive Player of the Year, he rushed for 2,005 yards in 16 regular season games – rested their Week 18 regular season finale – falling 101 yards shy of breaking Eric Dickerson's NFL single-season record.
  • Selected Toledo DB Quinyon Mitchell with the 22nd overall pick in the first round of in this year's NFL Draft: Mitchell's play in the regular season has garnered Defensive Rookie of the Year consideration, and he snagged his first career interception in last week's Wild Card win over the Packers.

Top performers in Wild Card round

QB Jalen Hurts completed 13 of 21 pass attempts for 131 yards and two touchdowns in Philadelphia's playoff win over Green Bay.

RB Saquon Barkley helmed the Eagles backfield with 25 carries for 119 yards.

TE Dallas Goedert paced Philadelphia's receivers with 4 catches for 47 yards and one touchdown; WR Devonta Smith had four catches for a team-high 55 yards as well.

Mitchell, LB Zack Baun and CB Darius Slay each logged an interception for the Eagles defense.

On special teams, K Jake Elliott made all three of his field goal attempts but one of two extra point attempts, while P Braden Mann averaged 48.6 yards per punt across five punts.

Early storylines to watch, and what they mean for the Rams

Week 12 presented the Rams with a painful lesson learned in maintaining gap integrity. One missed assignment against a running back of Barkley's caliber, and suddenly it's an explosive gain down the seam.

Whatever else that loss taught Los Angeles clearly resonated. It went on to win its next five games en route to a playoff berth, which has taken them to Philadelphia.

One of the biggest differences in that first matchup was the Eagles' explosive plays. Of their 10 longest plays in that game, seven went for 17 or more yards. Barkley had touchdown runs of 72 and 70 yards, along with a 31-yard catch. Quarterback Jalen Hurts also had completions of 28, 27, 19 and 17 yards to wide receiver A.J. Brown.

The Rams' ability to not only contain Barkley, but those explosive plays overall, could be the deciding factor in Sunday's game, in addition to the matchup between the Rams' defensive front and the Eagles' offensive line.
