The Rams conclude their 2024 preseason schedule with a road game against the Houston Texans. Kickoff on Saturday from NRG Stadium is scheduled for 10 a.m. pacific time on Rams TV affiliate ABC7. The two teams will also conduct a joint practice on Thursday ahead of that contest.

Notable Texans additions

  • Acquired WR Stefon Diggs in a trade with the Bills on April 4: The Texans further bolstered an already-talented wide receiver room with the nine-year veteran. The 2023 season marked Diggs' sixth-straight with 1,000 or more receiving yards.
  • Signed OLB Danielle Hunter to a 2-year deal on March 14: Hunter teams up with reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Will Anderson Jr. at edge for Houston's pass rush.
  • Acquired RB Joe Mixon in a trade with the Bengals on March 14: Mixon's arrival gives the Texans a new RB1.

Top performers in 2023

QB C.J. Stroud completed 319 of 499 pass attempts for 4,108 yards with 23 touchdowns against 5 interceptions en route to winning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

RB Devin Singletary paced Houston's backfield with 216 carries for 989 yards and 4 touchdowns.

WR Nico Collins led all Texans receivers with 80 catches for 1,297 yards and 8 touchdowns.

DE Jonathan Greenard led Houston's defense with 12.5 sacks, while second-year CB Derek Stingley Jr. added a team-high 5 interceptions.

On special teams, K Ka'imi Fairbairn made 27 of 28 field goal attempts and 21 of 22 extra point attempts in 12 games, while P Cameron Johnston averaged 47.7 yards per punt across 66 punts.

Early storylines to watch, and what they mean for the Rams

Similar to the first week of the preseason, Week 3 will once again focus on who doesn't play based on roles earned.

Last week, the latest example was defensive back Kamren Kinchens. While Kinchens didn't practice or play in last Saturday's preseason game because it was injury, it was also because they didn't want to expose him to injury risk in a live game since head coach Sean McVay said Kinchens will "be a factor" for them.

Saturday's preseason game will prove informative in that regard for other young players.
