Notable Packers additions

  • Acquired QB Malik Willis in a trade with the Titans in August: Willis' play while starter Jordan Love healed from a Week 1 knee injury was one of the biggest storylines of the first month of the season; he'll continue to serve as Love's backup.
  • Claimed K Brayden Narveson off waivers from the Titans in August: The Packers initially had veteran Greg Joseph and second-year pro Anders Carlson competing for the job, only to decide to keep neither player and bring in Narveson instead. Narveson has been inconsistent through the first four weeks; he missed both of his field goal attempts against the Vikings this past Sunday.

Top performers in Week 4

Returning after missing three-straight games with an MCL sprain, QB Jordan Love completed 32 of 54 pass attempts for 389 yards and 4 touchdowns against 3 interceptions in Green Bay's 31-29 home loss to Minnesota.

RB Josh Jacobs led the Packers backfield with 51 rushing yards on 9 attempts, though he and running back Emmanuel Wilson (8 attempts for 27 yards) effectively split carries.

WR Jayden Reed led Green Bay's receivers with 7 catches for 139 yards and 1 touchdown; WR Dontayvion Wicks hauled in 5 receptions for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns as well.

LB Quay Walker paced the Packers defense with a team-high 8 total tackles plus 1 sack; S Xavier McKinney added an interception.

On special teams, Narveson missed both of his field goal attempts (37 and 49 yards) but made all three of his extra point attempts, while P Daniel Whelan averaged 60 yards per punt across 3 punts with a long of 74.

Early storylines to watch, and what they mean for the Rams

Whatever rust Love initially had returning from injury, it didn't take long for him to shake off. Just look at his numbers and some of the throws he made last Sunday.

Between Love's return and the dynamic playmaking of Reed as a pass-catcher and runner, the Rams defense will have its hands full.

As for the Rams offense, it will be preparing for a different Packers defense schematically, as Green Bay transitioned from a 3-4 base scheme under former coordinator Joe Barry to a 4-3 base scheme under new coordinator Jeff Hafley. Early returns have been promising – Green Bay enters Week 5 leading the NFL in takeaways with 12 (four fumble recoveries and eight interceptions). This is a very opportunistic Packers defense that will require a disciplined effort from the Rams offense.
