A round-and-a-half went by before the Rams' first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. They used it on Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson at 46th overall in the second round, and in the third round they selected Michigan outside linebacker Josaiah Stewart 90th overall.
Ferguson has the potential to bring a dynamic element to the Rams' tight end room, while Stewart's proven production will add depth and explosiveness to a young and exciting outside linebacker group.
Here are five interesting stats from Ferguson's and Stewart's college careers and combine testing:
Ferguson averaged the most yards after catch per reception (9.0) among tight ends with at least 30 targets in 2024
Ferguson was one of the most productive tight ends in the nation after the catch, using his blend of speed and physicality to gain extra yardage. Ferguson runs precise routes, creating enough separation to leave defenders in the dust after the catch. And when they close in, his mean stiff arm can plant people in the turf. Ferguson nearly always falls forward.
Ferguson is the all-time program leader in receptions and touchdowns for a tight end at Oregon
Ferguson amassed a record 134 receptions and 16 touchdowns over four seasons at Oregon, which yielded 1,537 yards, the second-most for a tight end in Oregon history. His 43 receptions in 2024 tied the Ducks' single-season record for a tight end.
Ferguson had the best 40-yard dash, 10-yard split and vertical jump among tight ends at the 2025 NFL Combine
Ferguson's 4.63-second 40-yard dash was the best of any tight end at this year's combine, beating out Joshua Simon from South Carolina by two-tenths of a second. He tied for the fastest 10-yard split with Mitchell Evans out of Notre Dame (1.55 seconds), and his 39-inch vertical jump also cleared Simon by an inch.
That athleticism showed up on the field for Oregon, where he was a dynamic playmaker for the Ducks.
Stewart had the second-best pass rush win rate in the entire FBS in 2024 among qualified pass rushers, according to Pro Football Focus
Stewart beat the opposing tackle on 27.7% of his pass rushes in 2024, and that jumped to 41.2% on true pass sets (excluding screens, play-action passes and RPOs), which ranked third in the nation. That success translated to elite production off the edge.
Stewart led the Wolverines in sacks and tackles for loss
Michigan had two defensive linemen taken in the first 13 picks of the 2025 NFL Draft: Defensive tackles Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant. Stewart had more sacks (8.5) and tackles for loss (13) than both of them in 2024.
As head coach Sean McVay said, "the tape speaks to you," and Stewart had some of the best edge tape in this class.
