The Los Angeles Rams selected Toledo defensive lineman Desjuan Johnson with the 275th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft (4/29/23).
College: Johnson appeared in 54 games at Toledo and totaled 210 tackles (89 solo), 47 tackles for loss, 15.0 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception. His senior season in 2022, he set career-highs in tackles for loss (16.5) and sacks (5.5) along with 65 tackles. Johnson earned Second-Team All-MAC for the second time following his junior campaign in 2021 and set a career-high with 70 tackles to go along with 4.5 sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss. In a shortened 2020 season, he finished fourth on the team in tackles (27) and led the team with eight tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks in just six games played. He earned SecondTeam All-MAC honors for the first time that season. Johnson tallied 32 tackles, seven tackles for loss and five quarterback hurries during sophomore season in 2019. He appeared in 11 games his freshman season in 2018 and notched 17 tackles.
Personal: Johnson was a three-star recruit coming out of high school, according to Scout.com and 247 Sports. He helped lead East English Village Prep to an MHSAA Division II district final appearance as a senior and a 9-2 overall record. His father, Dion Johnson, played football collegiately at Kansas. Desjuan is an interdisciplinary studies major.
