INGLEWOOD, Calif. – The Rams (10-7) fell to the Seahawks 30-25 on Sunday at SoFi Stadium.
The loss means Los Angeles will be the No. 4 seed in the NFC and host the loser of Lions-Vikings next weekend in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
Down five with 3:19 remaining in the fourth quarter, Los Angeles marched to the Seattle 9-yard line to face a 4th-and-3 with 21 seconds left, but quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's pass intended for wide receiver Jordan Whittington was incomplete.
Kicker Joshua Karty set the franchise rookie kicker scoring record with his made extra point attempt and four made field goals. He also tied Frank Corral (29) for the most made field goals by a rookie kicker in franchise history.
Starting for Matthew Stafford – who was one of several offensive starters resting – Garoppolo completed 27 of 41 pass attempts for 334 yards with two touchdowns against one interception in the loss.

After kicker Jason Myers connected on a 56-yard field goal to put Seattle up 17-10 with 3:21 left in the first half, Los Angeles answered with a 43-yard kickoff return by Whittington. The prime field position went away three plays later after Garoppolo's pass intended for wide receiver Tyler Johnson was intercepted by Seahawks safety Julian Love, though the Seahawks didn't come away with points on the possession.
Karty drilled a career-long 58-yard field goal at the end of the first half for a 17-13 halftime deficit. A 57-yarder midway through the third quarter reduced the Rams' deficit to just one.
The Seahawks responded with a 4-yard touchdown pass from Smith to tight end A.J. Barner, then the Rams countered with a 4-yard touchdown pass from Garoppolo to wide receiver Tyler Johnson, but the ensuing 2-point attempt was unsuccessful, leaving the Rams trailing by two early in the fourth quarter.
Karty's 38-yard field goal put the Rams ahead 25-24 for their first lead of the game with 7:29 to play, but Seattle regained the lead 30-25 on a 16-yard touchdown pass from Smith to tight end Noah Fant on the following drive. The ensuing 2-point attempt failed, leaving the Rams with a five-point deficit with 3:19 remaining.
L.A.'s last-gasp drive was kept alive by a 7-yard fourth down completion from Garoppolo to Higbee and reached Seattle's 9-yard line, but the unsuccessful fourth-down attempt ended it.
