McVay: OL Rob Havenstein 'able to take part in a good amount of stuff' in Monday's practice; have contingency plans for whether he does or doesn't play Week 1 at Lions

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – The scope of Rams offensive lineman Rob Havenstein (ankle)'s participation in Monday's practice was an encouraging sign, from what head coach Sean McVay saw.

At the same time, Los Angeles is preparing for whether its starting right tackle does or doesn't play in this Sunday's regular season opener against the Lions in Detroit (5:20 p.m. PT, NBC).

"He was able to take part in a good amount of stuff, and so it was positive," McVay said after Monday's practice.

Asked by a reporter if Havenstein's status is leaning one way or the other, in terms of playing or not playing, McVay said that "we'll have contingency plans for either or."

"I think Wednesday, I'll have a much better idea," McVay said. "We're going to use every day, and that's the truth, especially as it relates to him."

Monday marked Havenstein's first practice since sustaining his ankle injury in the first week of training camp.
