As part of the Rams' ongoing efforts to celebrate Pride Month, theRams.com will be showcasing athletes from OutLoud Sports, the nation's original LGBTQAI+ and Allies recreational sports league which was founded in 2007. Since 2022, the Rams have partnered with OutLoud on two flag leagues to expand the impact of football in Los Angeles.
Up next is Lauren Greene, one of the athletes who competes in OutLoud Sports' Flag Football League.
A native of the suburbs of Chicago and huge football fan, attorney Lauren Greene was looking for more ways to get involved following the COVID pandemic. Through that process, she discovered OutLoud Sports' Flag Football League in Los Angeles, which she has been involved in since the spring of 2023.
"The people that I've met on the teams that I've played with and in the league in general have been the best part," Greene said. "The Outloud flag football community is really supportive and welcoming."
The Rams' partnership with OutLoud Sports began before Greene got involved. Their support of the league over the last two years has been important from an inclusivity standpoint, according to Greene.
"The Rams represent football at the absolute highest level," she said. "Obviously, however, only a few people are able to play football at that level. It's so important that the organization supports and fosters the broader football community and encourages more people to play the sport at any level."
For Greene, her family inspires her to be her authentic self.
"I'm consistently inspired by my parents and family to be my best self and the only way to do that is to be my authentic self," Greene said.
When it comes to being better allies for the LGBTQ+, Greene said proactive allyship is "incredibly important."
"Use your voice, platform, and opportunities to speak up for those in marginalized communities," she said.
Along the lines of being proactive, Greene points to supporting local LGBTQ+ businesses and attending the annual pride parade as ways to celebrate Pride Month.
"A great way to celebrate is to support local LGBTQ+ businesses, restaurants, and bars," Greene said. "And of course, come out to the parade!"
