LOS ANGELES – Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur and defensive coordinator Chris Shula each held press conferences with local media following after the second open practice of training camp, discussing injuries at the cornerback position, L.A.'s running back room, defensive back Kamren Curl and more.

"He's got a great coach in Ryan Wendell, and not just saying that – there's reason he was Tom Brady center for such a long time." – LaFleur

• As Avila continues to learn the center position, he has plenty of support all around him – including his position coach who played center at a high level.
• "He's getting more and more comfortable," LaFleur said of Avila.

"I don't put predictions or anything on that. I just know that mentally, he'll be prepared to play. It won't be too big for him." – LaFleur

• It's still to be determined what rookie running back Blake Corum's role will be, but his maturity and college production will have him ready, according to LaFleur.
• LaFleur also said it's great having Kyren Williams healthy, noting the great vibe and energy he brings to not just the running back room but the entire offense.

"You would never know this is his first year in this defense, just by how well he's communicated." – Shula

• Curl continues to impress in training camp, showing range at safety and a strong understanding of the defense overall already.
• "In the deep part of the field, he can do a lot of things, and he's been great with his communication," Shula said.

"We talked to Tre White about it, and and he just talked about, 'first of all, you got to be thankful every time you walk off the field healthy, not to take nothing for granted.'" – White
