From the Podium: OC Mike LaFleur, DC Chris Shula and QB Stetson Bennett talk Week 2 of OTAs

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur, defensive coordinator Chris Shula and quarterback Stetson Bennett each held press conferences with local media following the team's second OTA workout open to media, discussing what they've seen from this year's rookies so far, Bennett practicing with and being back on the team, and more.

Here are some of the highlights and key takeaways from those conversations:

"I said it last year about (wide receiver) Puka (Nacua), but how beneficial for a young receiver to be in that room with a guy like (wide receivers coach Eric) 'Yarbs' (Yarber) and then obviously guys like (wide receiver) Cooper Kupp and now Puka going into year two. What a blessing it is for those guys to be around people like them." – LaFleur

  • Between the experienced coaching and veteran and emerging talent, the Rams' wide receiver room is a perfect environment for their rookie wide receivers to be a part of.
  • "All those rookies, we're throwing them in a lot of different spots in a lot of different situations," LaFleur said of their approach with those first-year players during OTAs.

"I definitely felt (the play energy on the defensive side) today." – Shula

  • The defense had a noticeable play energy throughout Tuesday's OTA workout, which Shula also noticed.
  • "We talk about having great energy and it seemed like the front really brought that today," Shula said.

"I'd say that one's probably 'piss or get off the pot.' You kind of had to get back at some point." – Bennett

  • That's the phrase Bennett used when asked by a reporter Tuesday how he knew he was ready to rejoin the team.
  • Bennett has been back practicing with the team this spring after spending his rookie season back home addressing his mental health while on the Reserve/NFI list.
