When it comes to making the most of an opportunity, few have done it better in 2024 than Los Angeles Rams rookie Jaylen McCollough.
After going undrafted despite setting the all-time record for career-starts at Tennessee, "Tank" not only made the roster as an early contributor in the kicking game, he made waves once he was plugged in on defense for the Rams.
With four interceptions and a touchdown in just 164 snaps (less than 25% of defensive plays), McCollough's impact has been outsized. He's tied with Calen Bullock, third round pick of the Texans, for the most picks among rookies this season. Only three players have more, league-wide.
His LA teammates say he's "living right."
"Just doing what you're supposed to do. Doing everything you can control," is how McCollough explained the good fortune that he's earned early in his NFL career. "Letting everything else just fall into place. Preparation – mental, physical, emotional – just really being present in everything that I'm doing.
"I like to think I'm very versatile," McCollough said. "I have the ability to play in the box, play in the deep half or deep post. And you know, the area I'm really trying to improve in is my slot coverage. Being the in slot, being sticky in man coverage."
