He served our country in the Vietnam War, during his service from 1968-1980, as an Aviation Electronic Technician First Class in the Navy. He made 5 cruises in the West Pacific aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard, USS Hancock and USS Kitty Hawk. After his dedicated service he continued to support the Navy working on military bases and carriers through years of contracted work. He was a member of the American Legion Post 742 for several years and volunteered countless hours.
His volunteering doesn't stop there. Sidney also volunteered as a soccer referee through AYSO 37 in support of his granddaughter. Recently, he retired to spend time with his beautiful wife, Angie Powell, three kids, Cristina, Sidney III, Eric Powell, daughter in-law Jennifer Powell, and 5 rambunctious grandkids, Selena, Aaron, Ella, Caroline and Alexis. His son, Eric Powell, is currently in the Navy and stationed in Fallon, NV. Sidney Jr. taught his children the value of hard work, integrity and dedication.
Growing up in Southern California, Sidney has been a lifelong Ram fan. Thank you for your service, Sidney!
