NEW ORLEANS — Listed as questionable with an illness for Sunday's contest against the Saints, cornerback Sam Shields is active and expected to play in his usual rotational role on the Rams' defense.
Experiencing flu-like symptoms late in the week, and did not travel with the team to Louisiana. He was able to fly in separately with enough time to be able to line up with the club in Week 9.
Shields has recorded 11 total tacks — one for loss — four passes defensed, and one interception in his first year with Los Angeles.
As expected, both wide receiver Cooper Kupp and outside linebacker Dante Fowler are active for Los Angeles.
Declared out on Friday, Saints rookie defensive end Marcus Davenport is inactive for Week 9. New Orleans also has made first-team middle linebacker Manti Te'o inactive for Sunday's game. Per Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Advocate, Te'o does not usually play in New Orleans' nickel package — which the Saints will likely have to use a lot of with L.A. running offensive plays nearly exclusively from 11 personnel.
Below is the full list of inactives for both teams. Kickoff is slated for 1:25 pacific on FOX and the NFL app.
