Tight end Hunter Long originally entered the NFL as a third-round pick (81st overall) by the Dolphins out of Boston College in 2021 and was traded to the Los Angeles Rams on March 12, 2023.
College: The three-year letterman played in 36 games (14 starts). Long recorded 89 receptions for 1,297 yards and nine touchdowns. During his junior season (2020), he was named Second-Team All American and First-Team All-ACC. Long started all 11 games with 57 receptions for 685 yards and five touchdowns (2020). His 57 receptions marked second-most in school history. He led all FBS tight ends during the 2020 season. In his sophomore season, he played in all 13 games, had 28 catches for 509 yards and two touchdowns, and was named Third-Team All-ACC. After redshirting in 2017, Long played in all 12 games during the 2018 season. He recorded four catches for 103 yards (25.8 yards per reception) and two touchdowns. He made his college debut against UMass on September 1, 2018 and his first start against Syracuse on November 2, 2019.
Personal: The son of Stephen and Jean, Hunter Long attended Deerfield Academy following his high school graduation from Exeter High School. Long registered 30 catches for 508 yards and two touchdowns on offense, and also contributed seven sacks as a defensive lineman. Long was rated the No. 4 player in Massachusetts by Rivals.com, the No. 49 tight end nationally by Scout.com, the Scout.com No. 1 tight end in Massachusetts, and the fourth-best tight end prospect in the East by Scout.com. He was a USA Today all-state Second-Team selection, earned AllSNE Second-Team accolades, and was a two-time all-conference pick. During college he majored in computer science. He has two sisters and was a recipient of the Thomas J. Condon, Jr. Football Scholarship.
