Marty Barrett enters his seventh season with the Los Angeles Rams. He spent the previous two seasons as a senior personnel executive after spending time as a national scout.
Barrett, a 29-year NFL veteran, joined the Rams organization after spending time with the New Orleans Saints, the Chicago Bears, and most recently the Philadelphia Eagles.
Barrett was with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2015-16 as a senior scout.
Prior to his arrival in Philadelphia, Barrett enjoyed an 18-year scouting career with Chicago, where he served as the director of college scouting for four years after initially joining the club as an area scout in 1997. During his tenure with the Bears, Barrett was part of a franchise that captured four division titles (2001, 2005, 2006, 2010) and a conference championship (2006), while appearing in two conference championship games (2006, 2010) and in Super Bowl XLI. As a member of Chicago's personnel department, Barrett was involved in scouting a number of prospects who went on to earn Pro Bowl accolades for the Bears, including C Olin Kreutz, LB Lance Briggs, WR Alshon Jeffery and G Kyle Long. He also played a contributing role in acquiring 2014 PFWA all-rookie members CB Kyle Fuller and P Pat O'Donnell.
Barrett entered the NFL in 1995 as an area scout for the New Orleans Saints, a position he held for two seasons.
Prior to his scouting career, Barrett spent 11 years in college football, working as an assistant to the Athletics Director/Football Operations at Rutgers University from 1991-95 after spending one season as a graduate assistant for the Scarlet Knights.
After starting his coaching career in 1984 at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Barrett spent the 1985 season as a graduate assistant with Ashland University.
In 1986, he was hired as an assistant coach at his alma mater, the University at Buffalo, and coached wide receivers (1986-88) and then running backs (1989). During his time coaching the Bulls, Barrett also served as the team's recruiting coordinator.
A three-year letterman, Barrett established 14 records while in college and was inducted into the school's hall of fame in 1989. Barrett graduated from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in physical education and went on to earn a master's in sports science from Ashland University. A native of Amherst, NY, Barrett and his wife, Tina, have three children.
