John McKay is entering his eighth year with the Los Angeles Rams and third as director of pro personnel after spending time previously as the assistant director of pro scouting.
McKay helps manage the process for all player arrivals and departures. McKay also evaluates all 32 rosters prior to free agency, writes advance scouting reports for upcoming opponents and evaluates college players prior to the draft.
McKay joined the Rams as a scouting assistant in 2016. During that season, he evaluated players and submitted reports. McKay also tracked player news during the year and entered the information into the scouting database among numerous other specifically assigned tasks.
Prior to joining the Rams, McKay worked in labor operations/player personnel at the NFL Headquarters in New York, working closely with the league's salary cap and roster management team. McKay also has experience working as a researcher at NFL Network in Los Angeles, Calif.
McKay graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor's degree in political science with a minor in sports media. During his time there, he served as a student recruiting assistant for the school's football program in 2012.
A native of Atlanta, Ga., he attended Holy Innocents' Episcopal School, and currently resides in Los Angeles, Calif.
