Cedric Jones enters his seventh season with the Los Angeles Rams and fourth as an area scout. Jones joined the Rams following three and a half years consulting for the organization in a scouting capacity.
Prior to the Rams, Jones spent seven seasons as the defensive line coach at Southern Nazarene University, where he also contributed to special teams focusing on the field goal unit and punt protection. In his time at SNU, the Crimson Storm became Conference Champions and finished in the Top four for all major defensive categories, including second in total defense, first in tackles for loss, and third in sacks.
Jones began his coaching career in 2005, serving as the defensive line/strength and conditioning coach at Montclair College Preparatory School (2005-08) in Van Nuys, Calif. which paved way to join the NFL coaching ranks as an intern defensive line coach with the Carolina Panthers (2006-08) and Denver Broncos (2012).
A native of Houston, Texas, Jones hails from the University of Oklahoma where the All-American defensive end remains as the school's all-time leader in total sacks (31.5), single-season total sacks (14.0) and most sacks in a single game (5.0).
The two-time All-Conference player (1994-95) would go on to become the fifth overall selection in the 1996 NFL Draft by the New York Giants where he would spend five seasons (1996-2000), including an appearance in Super Bowl XXXV. Following the 2001 season, Jones entered his final season as a player in the NFL after signing with the St. Louis Rams, which led to his second Super Bowl appearance (XXXVI) in 2002.
Jones currently resides in the Norman, Okla. area.
