Consistency and Improvement Characterize Rams O-Line in 2017
After examining the performances of all 32 offensive lines in the NFL from the regular season, NFL Network analyst Shaun O'Hara has selected his five nominees for the Offensive Line of the Year. The winner will be revealed during Saturday's NFL Honors show in Minneapolis.
The top five nominees include the Tennessee Titans, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Philadelphia Eagles, the New Orleans Saints, and the Los Angeles Rams.
LA RAMS:
"This offensive line, which gave up just 19 sacks on the season (per Pro Football Focus), was much more physical, and running back Todd Gurley was more explosive as a result. The unit eliminated the negative runs from a year ago and finished with 17 rushing TDs in 2017. Equal credit should be dished to the O-line and Gurley, who led the team in rushing yards (1,305) and receptions (64) and became a legitimate candidate for MVP behind a much improved and consistent O-line."

Can Todd Gurley Unseat Tom Brady for MVP?
In the wake of Super Bowl LII this weekend, ESPN.com writer Alden Gonzalez is taking a look at several Rams candidates who will be up for yearly awards handed out by the Associated Press. The awards will be unveiled during the NFL Honors show, Saturday on NBC.
On Friday, Gonzalez analyzed the NFL's Most Valuable Player Award — the most hotly contested subject at this year's event — and he's making the case for Rams running back Todd Gurley.
Numbers:
"Gurley led the NFL with 2,093 scrimmage yards and 19 touchdowns, six more than anybody else. He rushed for 1,305 yards (second behind the Kansas City Chiefs' Kareem Hunt) and caught for 788 yards (second behind the New Orleans Saints' Alvin Kamara among running backs). Gurley became the third player in NFL history to finish a season with 2,000 scrimmage yards, 10 rushing touchdowns and more than five receiving touchdowns, joining Hall of Famers Marshall Faulk and O.J. Simpson."
Why he should win:
"That touchdown run against the Seahawks was the signature play of a dominant late-season stretch by Gurley. In his final three regular-season games, against the Seahawks, Eagles and Tennessee Titans -- the three games that clinched the Rams' first playoff appearance in 13 years -- Gurley gained 591 scrimmage yards and scored eight touchdowns. Despite sitting out the regular-season finale, he accumulated 343 touches, third-most in the NFL. Gurley carried a significant load for an offense that led the NFL in points, and he dominated when his team needed him most."
