The Rams have added two assistants to their coaching staff, hiring Matt Daniels as assistant special teams coach and Liam Coen as assistant wide receivers coach.
Daniels played with the Rams under current special teams coordinator John Fassel in the recent past. Daniels signed with the franchise as an undrafted free agent safety out of Duke in May 2012, and played in six games from 2012-2013. He also spent time with the Jaguars and Chargers in 2014 and 2015.
Coen departs Holy Cross for his new position in Los Angeles, where he had been named offensive coordinator late in 2017. Coen previously spent two seasons as the offensive coordinator for the University of Maine, where he coached an unit that scored 24.6 points per game in 2016 and 22.3 points per game in 2017. Coen has also coached at the University of Massachusetts — where he was a four-year starter at quarterback — as well as Brown and the University of Rhode Island.
Daniels replaces Tyrone McKenzie on the Rams' staff, who departed the franchise to become the Titans' inside linebackers coach under Mike Vrabel. And Coen replaces Zac Taylor, who was promoted from assistant wide receivers coach to quarterbacks coach in L.A.
