After serving a two-game suspension to begin the season, cornerback Troy Hill has been added to the Rams' active roster.
Originally signed by the Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2015, Hill landed with the Rams as a waiver claim during Week 17 of that season. He's been with the club ever since, playing 12 games in 2016 — starting four. Hill recorded 38 tackles and three passes defensed last year while also playing a significant role on special teams.
Hill could play an important depth role on Los Angeles' defense this week against San Francisco, as starting cornerback Kayvon Webster continues to recover from a shoulder injury. Cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman started in Webster's stead against Washington on Sunday.
Head coach Sean McVay said on Monday that the Rams are still evaluating how Hill may play a role in this week's gameplan.
As a corresponding roster move, Los Angeles waived cornerback Kevin Peterson. The club has also terminated the practice squad contract of outside linebacker Cassanova McKinzy.
