THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Rams head coach Sean McVay on Tuesday confirmed wide receiver Puka Nacua has a knee injury and is considered week-to-week.
McVay said "got his knee banged up" in last Sunday's joint practice with the Chargers. Nacua made a touchdown catch "in the tight red area" in that practice, McVay said, and Nacua "was moving around a little bit more," then had a route he ran later in that joint practice where felt it.
"Really just had a little bit of a bursa sac, kind of burst it," McVay said. "And it's just going to be week-to-week with him. Nothing serious, nothing structurally."
McVay also said the injury won't affect Nacua's availability for the regular season opener against the Lions.
Meanwhile, the Rams' signing of three offensive linemen – Conor McDermott, Matt Kaskey and Alec Lindstrom – on Tuesday appeared to be due in part to some additional attrition due to injury within that position group.
According to McVay, Warren McClendon and KT Leveston both sustained ankle injuries in Sunday's joint practice with the Chargers. McClendon participated in Tuesday's practice to an extent, Leveston did not. Those injuries are on top of projected starters Alaric Jackson (ankle), Jonah Jackson (shoulder) and Rob Havenstein (ankle) being week-to-week.
"There is some familiarity with Conor McDermott from a lot of guys that are on our coaching staff and even some of our players," McVay said. "He's a guy that's played a lot of meaningful football in this league. And then you know the other two guys, we'll continue to get to know. I don't know as much about them, but we're excited to add them on board."
