Friday was the first official day of on-field workouts with running backs and offensive lineman taking to the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium. But these two groups weren't the only ones to impress, as the quarterbacks took center stage at the podium.

Here are a few notes from Day 3: 

1) Records Are Meant to Be Broken:

Last year, former Washington wide receiver John Ross set a new record for the 40-yard dash with a time of 4.22. And this year there was another record broken with the start of on-field action.

UCLA's Kolton Miller quite literally soared at the Combine, setting a new record for offensive lineman with a broad jump of 10 feet, one inch. The jump is the longest by any lineman at the Combine since at least 2003.

2) Goff vs. O'Neill — 40-yard Dash:

Speaking of offensive linemen, one of the most exciting aspects of the Combine is watching the big guys attempt to sprint their way through the 40-yard dash.

But much to our surprise, this year featured several quick linemen showing off their speed. Former Pittsburgh left tackle Brian O'Neill, who checked in at 6-foot-7 and 297 pounds, led the way, posting 40-yard dash times of 4.80 and 4.82.

Not only was he the fastest offensive lineman of the day, but he also recorded a quicker 40-yard dash than former first-round draft picks, quarterbacks Jared Goff (4.82) and Jameis Winston (4.97).

And after the NFL Network broadcast O'Neill's top speed in comparison to both Goff's and Winston's, the Cal product took to twitter to admit defeat.

3) Barkley Turns Heads at the Combine:

Penn State's Saquon Barkley came into this week regarded as one of the best, if not the best, running back prospect in the draft class. And he did not disappoint with his Combine performance.

Barkley's 29 bench press reps tied for the best among all running backs, his 4.40 40-yard dash was second in the group, and his 41-inch vertical was just two inches shy of the best since 2006.

With all stats combined, Barkley put together one of the most impressive combine performances thus far and solidified his projection as a top-tier draft pick.

4) Quarterbacks Take the Podium:

"I'm not going to be a wide receiver at all tomorrow. No teams have asked me to play wide receiver. I don't even

know where it comes from, I'm strictly a quarterback. I thought I did a good job at quarterback [while at Louisville.]"

• Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson, on speculation he had been asked to workout at wide receiver.

"I'm not going to present a fake image of myself...I think that you have to be yourself, you have to be authentic and you have to show you've learned and grown over the years. You have to own your mistakes. That's what I'm trying to show. Your teammates don't want a fake shell of yourself. Teammates want you to be yourself every day so you're that reliable rock that they can count on."

• UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen, on what he hopes to show scouts about his personality. 

"Given all the information I had, I felt like it was the best decision."

• USC quarterback Sam Darnold on choosing not to throw at the Combine, per the MMQB's Albert Beer.

5) 2018 Draft Order is Officially Set: 

While the majority of the 2018 NFL Draft order has been set for some time, fans around the nation can rest easy knowing the complete order has been finalized.

A coin flip took place between the Raiders and 49ers on Friday to determine who would select at No. 9 and No. 10. The flip was necessary because both clubs finished with 6-10 records and were tied with a .512 strength of schedule.

In the end, the 49ers won the toss and will pick ninth, while the Raiders will pick 10th.
