Game-winning extra point highlights Joshua Karty's Rams debut

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – Joshua Karty walked into the Rams' locker room after their win over the Cowboys on Sunday, and his first thought wasn't about the victory-clinching extra point attempt he made.

"He comes in the locker room, everybody's fired up," McVay said. "He hits a game-winning extra point and he's mad at himself for the way that he hit the kickoff."

It was a compliment to Karty's character, and the standard he holds himself to. And Karty did allow himself a moment to take in the highlight of his Rams debut during his postgame press conference.

"It was a lot of fun," Karty said postgame. "It was very loud after the touchdown. Haven't really experienced that before much of my career. And it was, you know, same thing as normal, though, just trying to rally the guys in, get them ready for the extra point instead of celebrating the touchdown, make sure we don't run out of time on the play clock, and then, yeah, same thing as always."

In addition to the extra point, Karty made both of his field goal attempts, from 28 and 39 yards.

Making the moment even more special for him was having his family on hand at SoFi Stadium.

"They're super happy," Karty said. "And I have the best supporting system with my parents, and couldn't ask for anything better, and they're here every step of the way for me."

Still, just as his entrance to the locker room, Karty was more looking forward to making corrections than any celebrations.

"There's multiple parts to my game," Karty said. "There's field goals, there's also kickoffs, and they're both important plays. And in the game of football, we executed the extra point super well as a team. And then I had to stay locked in for the kickoff too. It's just something to improve on, and everything's a learning experience. Got better today, and just excited to move forward and get better next week."
