Donald One of Best at "Pass-Rushing Triple-Double"
With NBA Twitter buzzing over free agency, PFF thought, "What's the NFL's equivalent to the triple-double?"
PFF's Gordon McGuinness categorized the pass-rushing triple double to players with double-digit sacks, hits and hurries from the 2017 regular season.
There were only two interior defensive linemen to complete the triple-double in 2017, Aaron Donald and Geno Atkins. Donald finished the regular season with 12 sacks, 12 hits and 66 hurries -- in just 14 games.
"Donald has accomplished this in two of his four seasons in the NFL so far, and his 14.8 pass-rushing productivity rating was 3.0 points higher than the next highest player at the position, Atkins, coming in at 11.8." - McGuinness
To compare, here are the top edge defenders who recorded a triple-double last season:
Calais Campbell: 17 sacks, 14 hits, 42 hurries
Chandler Jones: 17 sacks, 18 hits, 41 hurries
Demarcus Lawrence: 15 sacks, 12 hits, 52 hurries
Cameron Jordan: 14 sacks, 14 hits, 47 hurries
Joey Bosa: 13 sacks, 11 hits, 51 hurries
