McVay: Cooper Kupp 'could be ready' to return Week 7 vs. Raiders but status still to be determined; plus latest on Joe Noteboom, Puka Nacua and Steve Avila

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp's availability for this Sunday's Week 7 home game against the Raiders (1:05 p.m. PT, CBS) is still to be determined.

McVay said Kupp's workout Monday will determine what his availability looks like the remainder of the week and whether he'll return this week from his ankle injury. Kupp will not practice Monday.

"He's making good progress," McVay said prior to Monday's practice. "I'll have an injury update in regards to how today goes for him. What does that affect? There is a possibility he could be ready this week. There's also a possibility that he might not be ready. So today is a big day for him."

McVay said Kupp "knows what it looks like to have his body in alignment with return to performance, not just return to play, and so we do want to be smart with that. McVay also noted the short turnaround with next week's Thursday Night Football home game against the Vikings being a factor they weigh in that decision as well.

Monday also represents a big day for offensive lineman Joe Noteboom (ankle); per McVay, his workout will determine whether the team chooses to open his 21-day practice window this week. Noteboom has missed Los Angeles' last four games since sustaining a high ankle sprain against the Lions in Week 1 that landed him on Injured Reserve (IR).

Meanwhile, McVay said he does not expect wide receiver Puka Nacua (knee) or offensive lineman Steve Avila (knee) to practice this week. Nacua suffered a PCL sprain against the Lions that landed him on IR, while Avila suffered an MCL sprain against the Lions that landed him on IR.

"They're still a little bit of ways away," McVay said regarding Nacua and Avila. "Exactly what that timeline is... Reggie (Scott) and his group are working tirelessly to get those guys back. And so we'll be really excited when that window of opportunity opens up for those guys to start to practice, and then to figure out what does it look like for them to be implemented back into potentially competing and doing their thing for us."
