5 interesting stats from the Divisional Round: Productive pass rush, Matthew Stafford's 4th quarter surge

The Rams' resilience was evident during an improbable comeback attempt that ultimately fell short in the final minute of the Divisional Round on Sunday. L.A.'s season ended on the snow-covered Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, but they fought until the final whistle of the 28-22 loss to the Eagles.

Los Angeles' pass rush put on a second-consecutive historic postseason showing, and quarterback Matthew Stafford almost catapulted the Rams to victory with an outstanding fourth quarter. In the end, a failed conversion on fourth-and-11 just outside the red zone was the Rams' final chance to extend their season.

Here are five interesting stats from the Rams' Divisional Round loss to the Eagles:

After a nine-sack performance in the Wild Card round, the Rams' pass rush put on another stellar showing in the Divisional Round. They became the first team to record 16 sacks through the first two games of a postseason in the Super Bowl era, passing the 1984 49ers, who had 15.

That 50% pressure rate was tied for the Rams' third-best mark of the season. Rookie outside linebacker Jared Verse led the way with two sacks and five pressures, encouraging heckles from Eagles fans all the while. Five other players collected one sack, including three rookies.

The Rams are the first team in NFL history to have four rookies record at least 1.0 sack in a postseason game since sacks became an official stat in 1982

Verse, defensive end Braden Fiske, linebacker Omar Speights and safety Jaylen McCollough all registered sacks on Sunday against what is widely considered a top-two offensive line. It was a complete effort from defensive coordinator Chris Shula's young defense, and the rookies led the way.

McCollough and Speights were both undrafted free agents that rose to the occasion, earning integral roles in the Rams' defense during a unique season. Meanwhile, Verse and Fiske were first- and second-round picks that more than lived up to their high expectations as defensive rookie of the year finalists.

161 of Stafford's season-high 324 passing yards (49.6%) came in the fourth quarter

Stafford's 161 fourth-quarter passing yards were also his most of the season, as he came up just short of an all-time fourth-quarter comeback. The Rams' win probability was as low as 1% after Saquon Barkley's 78-yard touchdown run put L.A. down two scores with less than five minutes remaining, according to Next Gen Stats.

On the final drive, it was as high as 35% thanks to wide receiver Puka Nacua' miraculous 37-yard grab on the sideline over Pro-Bowl cornerback Darius Slay. But, Stafford's fourth-quarter heroics ran out just outside the red zone on the next set of downs.

Stafford had some truly unbelievable completions in this game, some of which came in crucial moments. Wide receiver Tutu Atwell's 18-yard reception in the fourth quarter had a completion probability of just 28%, making it the second-least probable completion of the Divisional Round.

Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson's 48-yard bomb in the first quarter came in at fourth (29.6%), while Cooper Kupp's 30-yard third-down conversion was seventh (31%). Nacua's contested grab was ninth (33.4%), followed closely by tight end Tyler Higbee's four-yard touchdown grab between defenders (33.5%). It was a game full of incredible plays in the passing game, despite the horrid conditions.

Kyren Williams' seven missed tackles forced were tied for his most in a game this season, via PFF

Without Williams' tough running, L.A. may not have been in this game at all. His seven missed tackles forced came at key moments in the game, and 3.47 yards per carry after contact was his fifth-best average of the season. He also reached season-highs with two rushes of over 15 yards and 50 breakaway yards, according to PFF.

It wasn't a perfect game for the Rams' star running back, but Williams' impact was felt throughout, both on the ground and in pass protection.
